Have not graduated from high school
Have been out of school for at least one year
Be a resident of Ontario
Preparing for the GED
Each time you write the GED it is costing you money. You may only rewrite the GED test twice per year.

Subject Areas for Preparation
In order to pass the GED testing, preparation is extremely important.
Language Arts: Reading
Test Length: 1 hour and 5 minutes
Type of Questions: Multiple Choice
Content Areas: Poetry, Drama, Prose Fiction before 1920, Prose Fiction between 1920-1960, Prose fiction after 1960, Nonfiction Prose, Critical Review of Visual & Performing Arts, Workplace & Community Documents – such as Mission & Goal Statements, Rules for Employee Behaviour, Legal Documents and Communications.
Language Arts: Writing
Test Length: 1 hour and 15 minutes (Part 1) and 45 minutes (Part 2)
Type of Questions: Multiple Choice (Part 1) and Write an Essay (Part 2)
Content Areas: Part 1: Organization, Sentence Structure, Usage, Mechanics. Part 2: Well-Focused, Clear Organization, Specific Development of Ideas, Control of Sentence Structure, Punctuation, Grammar, Word Choice and Spelling.
Mathematics
Test Length: 1 hour and 30 minutes
Type of Questions: Multiple Choice, Standard Grid & Co-Ordinate Plane Grid
Part 1: Allows Calculator Part 2: Does Not Allow Calculator
Content Areas: Number Operations, Number Sense, Measurement, Geometry, Data Analysis, Statistics, Probability, Algebra, Functions and Patterns.
Science
Test Length: 1 hour and 20 minutes
Type of Questions: Multiple Choice
Content Areas: Physical Science (Physics & Chemistry), Life Science, Earth & Space Science.
Social Studies
Test Length: 1 hour and 10 minutes
Type of Questions: Multiple Choice
Content Areas: History, Geography, Civics & Government, Economics.
Total Test Time: 7 hours and 5 minutes (over 2 days)
